TIGER–SILK–HANDWOVEN
As Marco Polo brought silk velvets to Italy from China, this classic silk velvet finds its roots in Venice, originally launched by Iris Apfel through Old World Weavers in the 1960’s. This work of art is still woven by hand in Venice today, otherwise known as the catalyst to our several beloved variations. With one spine and a narrow 26" width very common for all handwoven fabrics, Tiger–Silk–Handwoven is a classic, luxurious Old World Weavers design.

TIGER–SILK
Based on the popularity of the 26" wide Tiger, a 50" wide, machine woven silk velvet was created featuring a single center spine with an ombré reaching to the selvages. This version became so popular that we invested in a private loom to give priority to weaving the motif for Old World Weavers.
